Before you claim one

  • You cannot send mail from it. This receives only. There is no compose button and there never will be one, because an anonymous free sender would be relaying spam within a week.
  • The password is shown once. There is no recovery address to send a reset to, so if you lose it the mailbox is gone. Write it down before you close the page.
  • Nothing here is deleted for you. Messages stay until you delete them, and so does the address. That cuts both ways: anything that arrives is still sitting here in a year unless you remove it.
  • Any free name can be claimed by anyone. A name is only yours once you have claimed it, and if you ever delete the mailbox the name goes back in the pool for someone else to take.
  • Made for signups and throwaways. Newsletters, forum registrations, one-off downloads, free trials, anything you would rather not hand your real address to. Take it, use it, forget it.
