An AnonFiles alternative
The old one is gone. This one is not.
AnonFiles closed. So did a long line of hosts before it, usually the same way: free, popular, overwhelmed, then a parking page where your links used to be. If you landed here looking for a replacement, this is what Anon.Cat does differently.
- Anonymous by default, with no account to create
- 1 GB per file and 10 GB every 24 hours
- Files expire after 30 days without a download instead of piling up forever
- Abuse handled at abuse@anon.cat, which is the part that keeps a host alive
Upload a file No account. No email. Just the file.
Why anonymous hosts keep dying
The pattern is always the same. Unlimited storage plus no expiry plus no moderation equals a warehouse of things nobody wants to host, and eventually the bill or the abuse reports end it.
The limits here are the honest answer to that. 1 GB per file and 10 GB a day are generous for real sharing and useless as free permanent storage. Files that nobody downloads for 30 days are removed automatically, so the service is not slowly turning into an archive of forgotten uploads.
What carries over
The good parts stay. Drag a file, get a link, share it, done. No signup wall, no email confirmation, no dashboard, no countdown page with three fake download buttons on it.
Uploads are chunked and resumable, so a 1 GB file over a shaky connection is not a coin flip. There is an API if you would rather pipe things in from a terminal, and a paste tool for text and code.
What is different on purpose
Files are not kept forever, and that is a feature rather than a limitation. A link that people use stays alive, because every download resets its clock. A link nobody touches goes away.
There is a real abuse address and a real jurisdiction behind it, which sounds boring next to a host that promises to ignore everything, right up until the day it disappears with your links inside it.
Questions people actually ask
Is this AnonFiles?
No, and it is not run by them or connected to them. Anon.Cat is a separate anonymous file host, and this page exists because people search for what replaced it.
Can I recover my old AnonFiles links?
No. Nobody can. When a host closes, the files go with it, which is a good argument for keeping your own copy of anything you care about.
Are files kept forever?
No. A file is removed once it goes 30 days without a download, and every download restarts the clock.
What does it cost?
Nothing. There is no paid tier, no premium wait timer and no queue. Donations are welcome and change nothing about the service.
